Last Bank Holiday before Christmas is going to be a wet affair

The last Bank Holiday before Christmas looks like its going to be a wet and chilly affair in the Westcountry.

The Met Office said that that while the region would enjoy the best of the weather today, it was going to all downhill after that.

Devon and Cornwall will have a fine, dry and often sunny day today, although isolated showers could occur which may be heavy and sometimes thundery this afternoon.

Lingering showers will fade away tonight leaving a dry, clear and unseasonably cold night which could lead to a grass frost in prone rural spots.

There will be a bright, chilly start to the morning but the skies will soon cloud up and rain will fall across the region.

The Met Office said it was likely to be much of the same next week with the final days of the school summer holidays marked by unsettled weather.
