£3.36m police station is open for business

Six years after it was initially given the go-ahead, Devon and Cornwall Police Force has taken the keys of its state-of-the-art £3.36m police station in Devonport. A total of 147 staff will work in the new three-storey building, one of the most environmentally friendly in the two counties. After delays in identifying a suitable site, it took until May 2011 for the sale and planning to go through, with the 52-week building project starting in October that year. The new building will replace the existing police station at Marlborough Street.
