Children at a primary school have been left upset and disappointed after vandals caused more than £1,000 worth of damage and destroyed a bird nesting box.
Youngsters at Leigham Primary School in Plymouth returned to lessons on Monday to find their school had been attacked by "a group of young men".
Headteacher Jane Bellamy said the group were captured on CCTV running across the school roof on Saturday between 5.45pm and 7.30pm.
During the attack, the vandals then pulled the bird box off the wall breaking the box, the camera allowing pupils to watch the nesting progress and dropping the nest itself to the ground.
Mrs Bellamy said: "Thankfully the CCTV has a significant amount of footage of them, so police will be able to track them down.
"The bird box was deliberately smashed up. The children are really, really disappointed."
