Two people have been cut free from their cars after a crash on the A38 this morning.

Emergency services were called to the A38 at Kennford just past Splatford Split heading southbound at 7am after reports people were trapped following a collision.

Two fire crews, from Danes Castle and Middlemoor, attended and found two people trapped inside their cars.

Crews got to work using hydraulic cutting equipment, a hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher.

Police said a silver Ford Puma and a blue Ford Fiesta were involved.

One man was cut free and said to be walking around while another person was also freed.

Both people suffered minor injuries, say police.

The collision caused queueing traffic and a partial blockage of the road.

The fire crews and ambulance left the scene at 8:30am and the road was clear by 8:40am.
