An adult and two children had to be rescued from a lift in Paignton on Saturday afternoon.

Two fire crews from the town attended the report of three people stuck in a lift in Cliff House, in Cliff Road, just after 4.45pm.

Firefighters released the occupants, who were all unharmed, from the lift using lift keys and small tools.

Earlier in the day, firefighters were called to rescue a seagull which was entangled in a fishing line on a roof.

One crew from Brixham attended the incident by The Scala Hall in Market Street at around 3.30pm.

After assessing the situation, crews requested the attendance of the aerial ladder platform from Torquay to help reach the animal which was stuck on a roof 30ft from the ground.

The animal was rescued and left in the care of the RSPCA.
