More than 25 firefighters worked through the night to tackle a blaze in an oil-powered range in a bungalow kitchen.
Flames took hold at around 12.40am yesterday, at Sandhill Cross, in the Dartmoor town of Moretonhampstead.
Initially, two fire crews attended, but the fire grew and three more were called out, alongside an incident command unit and a water bowser.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and jets to tackle the blaze, which spread to the roof space. A cordon was set up around the home.
Firefighters were only stood down just before 7.30am.
