In this morning’s thick fog it’s been reported that numerous vehicles were seen turning around across the oncoming lane with visibility very low.
Fred Ovey, 67, a retired teacher, from Bishops Tawton said: “I was very cross to see car drivers and indeed HGV drivers turning around across the oncoming lane.
“It’s totally irresponsible and could easily have caused another accident.
“I was stuck in traffic for an hour and a half and saw several cars and trucks turn around.”
Fred was driving from Bishops Tawton to Bideford on the A39 between 8am and 8.30am.
The other crash near Westleigh happened just before 9am and one lane is closed.
