Next year comedian and movie star Eddie Izzard embarks on a mammoth comedy tour, Force Majeure, which crosses 25 countries in Europe, Africa, the Far East, Russia, the USA, Australia, India... and Cornwall.
Tickets go on sale today for Eddie's appearance at the Eden Project on June 3, 2013 – the first of next summer's Eden Sessions.
Martin Williams at the Eden Project said they were "immensely excited" at the comedian's decision to play in Cornwall.
But if you can't wait more than 12 months to get your comedy kicks, this summer laughter comes courtesy of edgy musical funnyman Tim Minchin who headlines a whole day of humour on Saturday, June 23.
It will be the first Westcountry event for the London 2012 Festival, a 12-week nationwide celebration running until September. Tim has won many awards, including the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award for Best Newcomer in 2005.
He also wrote the music and lyrics for the award-winning stage version of Roald Dahl's Matilda.
If this June is still too long to wait for a good laugh, stand-up comedian Stewart Lee brings his show Carpet Remnant World to the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, on Monday. He expands on the torment of middle age – an expanding girth and failing eyesight, and a life which consists mainly of watching Scooby Doo cartoons with a four-year-old boy. He now gawps blankly at News 24 and blinks weirdly at vast wayside retail outlets during endless journeys to and from increasingly indistinct provincial theatres, perpetually trapped in Carpet Remnant World.
