Four police cars and an ambulance were called to a crash involving a black Ford Fiesta at Turnpike Cross near Mullacott Veterinary Hospital last night.

On arrival, at around 7.15pm, the emergency services found the car on its roof and blocking the main road between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe.

The woman driver had already freed herself from the car and had not sustained any injuries.

She told police she had swerved to avoid a badger and ended up flipping the car onto its roof.

Police said the road was snowy and the weather conditions were poor at the time of the crash.

At 8.50pm a recovery vehicle was at the scene and in the process of removing the car.
