The Westcountry was last night forecast to be in for a reprieve from heavy rains which have battered the region since the weekend.
Weather and flood alerts remained in place last night, as the last of the downpours swept across Devon and Cornwall.
But the Met Office said an end was in sight, and that mainly dry, sunny conditions would prevail until at least Saturday.
Spokesman Helen Chivers said today would be “pretty dry and bright”, but said the odd shower was possible. “It’s definitely improving,” she added. “We should see dry, sunny spells through until Saturday.”
