So, Lord Clifford of Chudleigh believes that farmers have better things to concentrate on than eradicating badgers which is surprising, that it was for their benefit, all across the countryside. Thousands of badgers, including no doubt a large proportion of healthy ones have been culled in the misguided belief that badgers alone are responsible for the passing of TB to cattle.
Many people are concerned that healthy badgers are being culled unnecessarily and it is for this reason that Dr Brian May CBE (awarded in past for his charity work) is keen to underwrite badger vaccination research.
I believe he has already donated a very substantial amount for this purpose. Unlike Lord Clifford, who no doubt inherited his title and money, Dr May worked for his and is free to spend it in anyway he so chooses. To suggest that he, and other celebrities should contribute a million pounds to flood victims, when Prince Charles gave a paltry 50k is ridiculous. The Environmental Agency isn’t fit for the purpose it is intended for, and it is the government which should be donating – not members of the public.
One final note. How wonderful to know that Gordon Brown hasn’t been blamed for this fiasco and an anagram for the Houses of Parliament is none other than “shameful operations”. This says it all.
