All three lanes of the M5 near Exeter have been reopened following a crash involving a car and caravan.

The silver Rover estate car, which was towing a caravan, collided with the central reservation causing the caravan to overturn.

Police and an ambulance were called to the scene on the M5 heading northbound between junction 28 and 29 at Cullompton at 12:06pm.

The two occupants of the car were seen to by paramedics but were not injured, say police.

Police have closed all three lanes due to debris on the carriageway but reopened them at 1:30pm.

The damaged caravan has been dragged onto the hard shoulder until a recovery vehicle arrives.

Why was the driver not in lane 1 ? The outside lane 3 is for overtaking only, what was a Rover towing a caravan doing overtaking ?
