Thousands of visitors have been flocking to the South West’s biggest undercover Christmas market in the build up to Christmas.

The market at the BIG Sheep, near Bideford in North Devon, was set up in the aftermath of the foot and mouth outbreak and has since gone from strength to strength.

This year’s market boasts more stalls than ever before with a wide range of produce from Free range of turkeys to Christmas trees.

Last Saturday it attracted almost 2,000 people between 9am and 1pm.

Rick Turner, director of the Flock at the BIG Sheep, said the markets are his favourite time of year.

“I can’t believe that our markets have now been running for so many years now,” he said. “When we ran our first farmer’s market, these types of markets were a relatively new idea and it is wonderful to see how the concept of supporting local producers has grown right across the UK.

“it is amazing to see how they have grown each year getting bigger and better and the range of local food widening.”

The annual Christmas market is run alongside the visitor attraction’s winter wonderland which includes Christmas lights, an outdoor skating rink, toboggan ride snowboard simulator..

The last market before Christmas takes place this Saturday between 9am and 1pm.
