The sights, sounds and smell of steam proved as popular as ever as thousands of people soaked up the sunshine at the annual Boconnoc Steam Fair last weekend.

Visitors mingled among vintage vehicles, enjoyed train rides and attractions during the three-day show which is staged on the Boconnoc Estate near Lostwithiel, in South East Cornwall.

"The weather was absolutely fantastic," show secretary Janet Cooper said, "although it may have been too hot for some at times.

"The big steam engines are always the main attraction, we had mower racing which was a first for us this year and the tractor pulling is always very popular. There was also a miniature railway which was giving people rides down by the house.

"It seems to have been a pretty good year for visitor numbers but we haven't done the final figures yet."
