THIEVES stole a rabbit and two guinea pigs from a Braunton house over Christmas.
Some time between 6.30pm on December 24 and 9.30am on Christmas Day the pets were stolen from a house in Davids Close.
A police spokesman said entry was gained through a rear garden and the animals were taken from a wooden hutch.
The rabbit is small and light ginger and the two guinea pigs are mid-sized, with one being light brown and the other dark.
Matt Fryer, whose sons Jackson, 5, and Tomas, 4, owned the pets, put out an appeal on Facebook offering a reward for their return which has been shared almost 300 times.
“I was shocked,” he said. “Absolutely shocked. I came down on Christmas morning to feed them and they had gone. There was no way they could have escaped.
“I was gutted to tell the boys.”
Matt said the good side to the theft was the generosity of people once he had put out an appeal, so much so that he has since accepted an offer of a new rabbit and two guinea pigs.
“I was blown away by everybody’s generosity,” he said.
