Thieves risked their lives when they took bolt cutters to live cables in order to steal a length worth £5,000. The incident took place at the open part of the Aggregate Industries quarry at Landkey, Barnstaple, between Friday, September 21, and Sunday, September 23. The thieves stole a 150 metre length. DC Michael Dean said: "To cut into live cabling is obviously extremely foolhardy and could have had disastrous consequences for those involved. I would urge anyone with information, or anyone who may have been offered this cabling, to contact the police."
