A man was robbed of bags of cash on the way to the bank in Torquay.

The local man, aged 31, was attacked by two men on Hartop Road as he went to pay money into the bank yesterday.

The pair grabbed a carrier bag containing the money and punched the victim to the ground.

He was treated for minor injuries at Torbay Hospital.

Police are now appealing for information about the incident which happened between 12.30pm and 1pm at the junction of Cambridge Road and Hartop Road.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the men on Cambridge Road prior to the robbery.

They were both wearing dark coloured hoodies and waterproof jackets and jeans.

It is thought the pair left the scene at speed in a small white vehicle.

Anyone who saw the men or the vehicle is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference FT/12/8286.
