A woman has been arrested just two minutes after police received a tip-off about a suspected drink-driver.
At 12.15am today police officers in Taunton were told by door staff at a pub about a possible drink-driver.
The officers, from the Roads Policing Unit, responded and stopped a vehicle two minutes later
The driver was taken to the police station and was subsequently charged to appear in court.
This was the result of swift action by local officers who were supported by door staff.
Speaking at the launch of Avon and Somerset Police Christmas drink-driving campaign last month, Chief Inspector Yan Georgiou said: "We know drink driving is one of the major causes of collisions and this is why we run Operation Tonic at this time of year.
"You risk being stopped and arrested by the police but, much worse than this, you could seriously injure or even kill someone."
Anyone who sees someone believed to be driving under the influence of drink or drugs is asked to call the police on 999 or text 'drunk' and information on the vehicle, and the driver to 81819.
