Steve hits the festive menu deadline...

More than 4,000 succulent turkeys are ready to be dispatched from a Devon farm.

The birds, which have been well hung to bring out their flavour, are destined to become the highlight of Christmas meals in homes all over the Westcountry.

Steve Slade, of Rosamondford Farm at Aylesbeare, near Exeter, said it had been a busy few weeks to make sure everything came to fruition on time.

"December is our busiest month by far," said Mr Slade. "Most importantly you can't afford to be late because the deadline's very strict!"

Mr Slade said the farm, which is also home to 200 cattle and 1,200 free range chickens, supplied turkeys from the tip of Western Cornwall up to Poole in Dorset.
