South Molton struck a major blow in the Tribute Devon One promotion race with a bonus-point win at Topsham.

Dan Smith scored a hat-trick of tries in a 32-0 victory over the previous league leaders.

With Totnes losing 24-22 at home to Plymstock Albion Oaks, Molton are now six points clear at the top.

Tries by Smith and Dom Stoneman put them 10-0 up at half time.

Courtney Lucas collected his own kick ahead to score the first try of the second half, converted by Stoneman.

Smith then crossed twice to complete his hat-trick and take his try tally for the season to 10, before Luke Doyle sealed the win with his 12th of the campaign.

Bude lost 30-8 away to Wellington in Western Counties West and there was a 19-7 defeat for Ilfracombe at Buckfastleigh Ramblers in Devon Two.

Bideford's match at Chard in South West One West was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. It will be four weeks since their last league game by the time they line up against Cullompton next Saturday.
