Reports have come in of snow in Exeter last night and in the early hours of this morning.
Many took to twitter to spread the word.
Phil Williams posted at 11pm:
“just drove through some snow showers on A30 near Exeter.”
And Esther Elliot wrote:
“Tonight it snowed in Exeter for about 20 seconds. This was massively exciting, as i haven’t seen snow in 3 years!”
PCSO Rich Shelton tweeted:
“Morning all, reports of some snow on Dartmoor & freezing rain arounds the #Exeter area. Please take care on the roads. #police #DevonWinter"
Dartmoor also saw snow last night and early this morning with an apparent 1cm falling in Princetown overnight.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of ice for South West England and the public are advised to be aware of the risk of disruption to travel due to visibility being reduce to below 100m in places.
The latest forecast map provided by the Met Office shows there's a chance of snow in East Devon and possibly higher ground in Exeter overnight.
While the current forecast - "A cold, frosty night with temperatures dropping under clear skies. Some freezing fog is likely to develop, particularly in the north and east. Minimum Temperature -6 °C" - does not mention snowfall, the map suggests there may be snow and sleet across the region.
