A sneak thief has been jailed for sparking a cyber security alert at a top girl's school where he stole the headmistress's laptop.
Nicholas Ellis walked into the study at the £10,900 a year Maynard School in Exeter, while head Bee Hughes had nipped out for just a few minutes to check on a school play.
The school warned staff and pupils that their details may have been on the laptop, which was stolen along with the head's handbag and mobile.
Ms Hughes had to have the locks changed at her own home after her keys and documents containing her address were also taken, Exeter Crown Court was told.
Ellis, 35, of Polsloe Road, Exeter, admitted burglary and was jailed for 12 months by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC.
