Road closed and properties evacuated after gas main fire in Teignmouth

Comments (0) Police and Fire services were called to the scene of a gas main fire in Teignmouth.A pipe on the Broadmeadow Industrial Estate, Bishopsteignton Road fractured at 9.25am and resulted in a fire.The scene is surrounded by industrial, rather than residential units.Two fire crews from Teignmouth and one from Torquay was sent to the scene. Crews set up a cordon, evacuated nearby commercial premises and requested assistance from Transco, Western Power and Police.Fire crews stood by awaiting the Transco excavation team. Nobody was hurt in the incident.Traffic was heavily delayed in the area.
