Police have launched an arson investigation after a fire in a 34ft-boat stored in a garden. Firefighters were called to Castle Road, Torquay, during the early hours of yesterday morning. Flames were reported at around 3.50am and two fire appliances from the town were sent. On the way fire crews discovered a further fire on Ash Hill Road in the town involving fencing, rubbish and a cement mixer which they stopped to extinguish using a hose reel jet. When they arrived at Castle Road the hose reel jet was used again to quell the fire on the boat. The damage to the boat was slight.
