One of those being honoured next month by Gorsedh Kernow for his outstanding services to music in Cornwall is Peter Bawden.

A singer for 74 years, he will be presented with a shield and certificate at the annual Gorsedh ceremony at Torpoint on Saturday September 6. He estimates that he has performed in excess of 1,300 concerts supporting charitable causes and charities, both as soloist and chorister.

Starting his musical life as a choir boy at Tavistock Parish Church, he has been a member of various male voice choirs and Cornish mixed choirs. He is currently a member of Canoryon Lowen, based at St Neot and is a regular soloist with Loveny Male Voice Choir.
