A pensioner plunged 25ft to his death from the window of a guest house, an inquest heard yesterday.

Retired engineer Colin Moore, 78, had just eaten an evening meal but complained of an upset stomach.

He was last seen heading to the kitchen but somehow fell from the window and landed on the concrete floor.

The hearing heard how Regina Martin, who runs the guest house in Devonport Road, Plymouth, Devon, with her partner Saeed, found a first-floor kitchen window "wide open".

The inquest in Plymouth heard there was no indication Colin took his own life and ruled it was a tragic accident.

The hearing was told he was found dead of a head injury following the fall at the guest house in Plymouth on February 4.

Detective Constable Christine Crown said: "It seems he fell up to 25ft out of the first floor window and fell on his head.

"It looks like he survived the fall and tried to sit himself up. Blood was found on the palms of his hands, where we believe he touched his head following the fall."

Plymouth coroner Ian Arrow recorded a verdict of accidental death.
