A bride who carried the Olympic torch last year was delighted when a surprise on her big day saw the moment re-created.

Amy Collins, who carried the torch through Rosudgeon in the Cornish leg of the relay, was given a special Olympic torch guard of honour by her fellow torchbearers who turned up at the church, complete with white tracksuits.

The five torchbearers, some of whom shared a bus on last year's relay, held their Olympic torches in an arch for the newlyweds to walk under, while leaving the service at St Uny Church in Lelant.

Emerging from the church, the newlywed Mrs Collins was overwhelmed by the guard of honour from her fellow torchbearers, wearing their Olympic 2012 tracksuits.

She said: "I can't believe it, I really really can't. We were on the same bus last year.

"The relay went by too quick, just like today. It's such a lovely surprise."

Torchbearers Bernard Lee, Jeremy Parry, Marie Wilton, Mandy Hiscock and Garvey Evans all met outside the church in secret, ready to surprise the couple.

Several of them had met earlier in the year at a reunion in Land's End, which is when they heard that Amy was to get married on Wednesday, October 2. Bernard Lee from Camborne who took part last summer, came up with the idea to surprise Amy and her husband Adam.

He said it went better than he could have hoped: "Amy is such a lovely person. I only met her that one day, but she left such an impression on me.

"It's not been done as far as I know. I just wanted to make her special day that bit more special."

The couple posed with the Olympic torchbearers outside the church.
