Abbey Lodge was built in 1868 as a chapel for the historical Royal Navy base in Plymouth. The chapel has been transformed into a striking four-bedroom home set in 26 acres of communal landscaped grounds in the heart of Plymouth.

On sale for £825,000, it is part of an extensive development of converted Grade ll and Grade ll* listed stone buildings which once formed a hospital for the Royal Navy, dating back to the 1760s.

The Chapel was built using the best materials available at the time, with external walls of cut limestone and sandstone quoins. The present owners undertook a major programme to convert and restore the chapel in 2000, including high-quality double glazing and underfloor heating. The result is a spectacular house.

All four bedrooms have en-suite bath or shower rooms and the principal bedroom has a fitted dressing room.
