The River Practice Specialist Dental Centre based in Truro is anticipating a successful year ahead after growing its team by nearly 100% in the last few months as well as adding new specialist dental treatments to its portfolio.
The expanding team has welcomed renowned dentists at the forefront of their profession as well as further support staff to ensure that the practice continues to deliver the first-class experience expected by patients. With a recently completed independent survey showing that staff love working for the practice, the team are all set for a busy and rewarding year ahead.
With eight new staff members joining River Practice since July, the newly-enhanced team is an example of the positive growth at the practice over the past year. With an ever-increasing patient list for both NHS and private dental services, the team includes a number of orthodontic, implant and endodontic specialists, along with experienced orthodontic therapists, dental nurses and hygienists.
Joining the River Practice team is Dr Philip Bennett, an expert in implantology and aesthetic dentistry. After receiving the 'European Expert in Implantology' award from the European Dental Association (EDA) in 2010, he has gained a worldwide reputation as one of the leaders in the field of dental implants.
Philip is also the UK's representative on the European Board of Implantology of the EDA. He has a special interest in treating patients, not just for implants, but also bone grafting, soft tissue grafting, sinus elevation and the management of failing dental implants.
Working alongside Dr Bennett on implantology cases is Patrick McVeigh, a dentist with a special interest in implants. During the past eight years, Patrick has developed his skills in placing and restoring implants with over 1,000 implants to date. Patrick's skills have resulted in him obtaining the highest
qualification awarded by the Faculty of General Dental Practice, the Fellowship Diploma, in 2012.
Both Philip and Patrick will be able to offer an impressive level of service to those who require implants in the Cornwall region, including being able to provide a 'new smile in a day' service where a whole new smile fitted on permanent implants can be fitted in a single day. This is the first time that this opportunity has been open to patients in Cornwall.
Daniel Rhodes, a dentist with a special interest in oral surgery and orthodontics, joins the team after spending 17 years in the RAF as a dental technician before qualifying as a dentist in 2010. Daniel's arrival means that the River Practice Specialist Centre can now offer new services such as orthodontic or surgical extraction and other minor surgical procedures.
The River Practice team's recent expansion in 2013 also saw experienced orthodontist Adrian King join the practice, as well as Alison Brown, a dental hygienist with 25 years of experience; Helen Mackenzie, a dental nurse with over 30 years' experience; Amy Hambly-Symons, another dental nurse and Donna Kirby, the practice's new second receptionist.
Dr Jeremy Peak, lead orthodontist and director of the River Practice, explains the rapid expansion of the practice: "We are very pleased to welcome all our new members of staff to the River Practice team, and look forward to creating even more smiles in 2014.
"The increased demand for specialist dentistry treatments resulted in us searching for additional highly experienced and dedicated dentists who are experts in their respective fields. This has allowed us to increase our portfolio of services and we can now offer advanced dental treatments such as a 'new smile in a day'.
"We have also been encouraged by the excellent results the practice achieved in an employee research project undertaken by youbecome, in partnership with Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, and supported by GAIN and Plymouth University, which measures levels of employee engagement in South West Peninsula businesses.
"River Practice scored highest in the region in terms of employee satisfaction and had higher-than-average results across the six indicators being assessed – this is a clear message that our staff enjoy working at River Practice and have pride in delivering a top-quality service to patients".
The River Practice Specialist Centre is Cornwall's only multi-specialist dental centre specialising in orthodontics, endodontics and periodontics.
