Drinkers sitting outside country pubs may receive some unexpected entertainment over the next few months.

Men and women in black shirts and white trousers, adorned with bells and waving hankies are preparing to descend in droves upon popular establishments.

Trigg Morris are preparing to go out and about to "dance the morris" at the front of a range of pubs in North Cornwall on April 1.

The 40-year-old Cornish folk group performers – accompanied by melodeon, concertina and fiddle – will dance to a range of ancient tunes as they kick-off their summer tour.

Dances will begin in the morning at Launceston Square before they move on to The Archers at Lewannick.

Jim Hutchins, of Trigg Morris, said: "We're looking forward to performing at the Blisland Inn near Bodmin, because there's always a loyal audience there who watch the dancing before joining in with a boisterous lunchtime folk music session."
