A photograph capturing a tiny blue tit on a branch has caught the eye of judges to win the latest installment of a contest for photographers run by the Western Morning News.

The image, Blue tit, was taken by Mike Boddy.

The blue tit is the British Trust for Ornithology’s March bird, nesting and breeding over the spring and Easter, and Mike’s image beat off stiff competition from hundreds of other entrants who submitted photographs on the theme of Easter faces.

The Western Morning News is now inviting keen amateur and professional photographers to enter its next instalment of the competition, which is centred on the theme glorious coast.

All entries to the competition should be emailed to Scott Squires at: ssquires@westernmorningnews.co.uk. All photographs entered should have been taken in the past couple of months.

The winner will be chosen by the editor.

The Photographer of the Year competition is due to be decided later this year.

With reference to the photos shown above in the latest installment of of the Photographer of the Year competition, you have captioned one (the image of three young birds sitting in a flower bed) as 'Easter Faces by Rosie Spooner', yet in the WMN of 17th May you show exactly the same picture, captioned 'Two (although there are three!) Easter Chicks by Julia Kelland'. Which is correct?
