An 84-year old man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after a two-car crash at Yelverton, near Plymouth.

The collision took place at the junction of the A386 and the Bere Alston turning – commonly known as the junction near "The Rock"– shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

A Ford Focus driven by the elderly man was involved in a collision with a Fiat Panda being driven by a 61-year-old woman from the Saltash area of Cornwall.

The man was taken to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital where he is said to be in a serious condition.
