A man was rushed to hospital last night after being freed from his car following a head on collision near Crediton.

Police were called to the scene of the head on collision between a silver Peugeout and a red Fiesta just before 10am last night.

Two fire engines from Crediton were mobilised to reports of a two vehicle collision with persons trapped on the A377 at Quarryfoot Cross.

A representative of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said:

“On arrival crews confirmed there was a head on collision, two casualties from one vehicle were free and clear, with one further casualty trapped in the other vehicle.

“A further fire appliance was mobilised from North Tawton for additional equipment. This was used to release the casualty. Vehicles were made safe, casualties were left in the hands of paramedics or conveyed to hospital via road ambulance and duty of care left with the police.”

The man did not suffer serious injuries in the collision and the road was cleared by 1am.
