A throat infection has forced Lily Allen to pull out of the Coldplay homecoming concert at Exeter Castle
EXCITEMENT is mounting ahead of tonight's Coldplay homecoming concert at Exeter Castle.
Some fans were left disappointed when Lily Allen, who was part on the show's line-up, made a late withdrawal due to a recurrent throat infection.
However, the 500 fans attending the event have been told her slot will be filled by an extended set from Chris Martin's band.
Final preparations for the gig are now virtually complete and doors will be open at 6.30pm.
La Roux will kick things off before the much-anticipated scaled-down Coldplay set.
It was thought that, because Lily Allen turned up to play a show at Brixton Academy on Thursday, she would be able to turn out, but a spokesman confirmed yesterday morning she had been forced to pull out of the Exeter Mencap show.
A Mencap spokesman said: "Lily deeply regrets having to cancel. The illness has also led her to cancel two television shows this week. She regrets having to cancel her appearance this weekend and hopes that fans will enjoy the rest of the amazing bill on the show."
Refunds are now being offered and can be obtained by calling HMV ticket customer services on 0844 209 0332.
