Sam Edelman is best known for his range of celebrity loved bags and shoes, however the brand would arguably not be anywhere near as successful as it is today if it weren’t for Libby Edelman. Not only is she the supportive wife of Sam, but she was also one of the driving forces behind the womenswear label. After a break from working with the Sam Edelman brand, Libby is to rejoin the team.

The decision comes as the brand is attempting to expand into new markets, with murmurings of the designer line to soon include both outerwear and intimate apparel. Sam’s job will be to help with the marketing and licensing of these new lines. Diane Sullivan, who is the president and CEO of Brown Shoe Company believes that Sam and Libby’s relationship is perfect for the brand’s continued success as according to her “nobody knows Sam better than Libby” meaning that she will be able to “take his voice and integrate it throughout everything the brand is doing.”

It isn’t just the Sam Edelman brand that has proved successful for the pair; the couple have had success together in other areas of business as well. In 1987 they launched the Sam & Libby brand, and before that in 1983 they founded the Esprit footwear business. In the 70’s, Libby was a senior fashion editor for a number of big name magazines, including Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour, proving that the couple work well on their own as well as in a team.

Before deciding to rejoin her husband, Libby had taken a trip out to Peru where she was working with Soles4Souls, a charity that collects new and used shoes for those in need. She says that the trip left her feeling “refreshed” and evidently she decided that her newfound energy would be put to good use at Sam Edelman.

The Editeur are really looking forward to the Edelman’s working together again, as they’ve created such beautiful lines in the past. The Editeur are an independent designer ladieswear

boutique, who stock handbags and shoes from Sam Edelman’s range, along with a huge number of other designer names including Rachael Ruddick. They’re looking forward to the expansion of the brand, and are certain that the dynamic Edelman duo will deliver a spectacular new range of clothing and footwear. The shop is located in Chester, and the staff would be happy to help you find your perfect pair of Edelman heels or flats.
