Kayaker rescued after overturning at sea

A family had to be rescued by RNLI lifeguards after their kayak capsized in rough conditions. A man, woman and child were kayaking in the River Gannel at Crantock, near Newquay, on Thursday when the boat overturned and they were all thrown into the water. Although the man and child managed to get back on to the kayak, the woman struggled to get to safety. First-year lifeguard Sam Johnston responded on a rescue board and paddled to the scene, picking up the woman and bringing her back to the shore.
