Truro's latest official city guide has something of a contemporary twist courtesy of celebrated Cornish artist, Joanne Short.

Falmouth-based Joanne was commissioned by Truro City Council to capture in oils her interpretation of the city to feature on the cover of this years' guide.

Lindsay Southcombe, Mayor of Truro, said Joanne's creation "Blue Sky, Truro" had been very well received.

She said: "It is absolutely stunning, it is so clean and clear. I was very taken with the painting and wanted to make sure it was shown off to the city.

"The painting and official guide have been received with great enthusiasm by everyone involved."

Truro City Council expressed an interest in acquiring the painting for the city's permanent art collection.

Joanne said: "I was delighted to present the painting to the mayor at Truro Cathedral."

The painting will initially be exhibited at the Truro Tourist Information Centre before being placed into the city's permanent art collection and put on display at a variety of locations.
