A JEALOUS thug left his victim needing several stitches after being told the girl he fancied was taken.

An 18-year-old man – who is around 5ft 4ins tall – and his girlfriend were in the upstairs bar of Cuba in North Hill at around 2.40am on Sunday February 16 when the incident took place.

The suspect approached the teenage girl and began to chat her up, but after being informed that she was with her boyfriend, he became insulting.

Investigators say the suspect turned on the young man and sneered “she’s too tall for you mate” before head-butting him in the face and punching him to the floor.

The victim was left suffering a cut above his eyebrow which required seven stitches.

The thug was described as white, clean shaven, with short brown hair. He was of muscular build and wore dark jeans and a distinctive tight fitting T-shirt which bore black and white checks on the front. He was aged in his late teens to early 20s and was, ironically, around 5ft 7ins tall.

He was in the company of another male who was wearing a white top.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw the man described at any stage during the night.

If you can assist police, contact them on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference number EC/14/1521.

Well, that's certainly the most unusual method of trapping I've ever come across. I wonder if he has much success with it?
