St Austell Brewery has signed a season-long deal to support the Western Morning News's brand new regional sports platform.

The supplement – which will be launched in the paper on Monday – will feature reports, pictures and analysis of all the weekend action in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset for the whole of the 2012/13 season. Award-winning St Austell, whose biggest beer, Tribute, is already known as "the official beer of South West rugby", has signed a deal to support the supplement throughout its debut season.

WMN editor Bill Martin said: "The Western Morning News and St Austell Brewery have both been doing business in the Westcountry for more than 150 years.

"It's fantastic that these two great brands are now working together to help celebrate and support Westcountry sport."

St Austell has been brewing beer since 1851, and now runs more than 170 pubs in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Managing director James Staughton said: "The South West has a fantastic sporting heritage and St Austell Brewery is proud to support many sports and sports clubs across the region, from rugby, sailing, football to Cornish Pilot Gig racing.

"As such we're delighted to sponsor the Western Morning News sports supplement."
