A South West shopping centre is set to star on the small screen today when it features in a celebrity chef's television programme.

Heston Blumenthal will appear at Plymouth's Drake Circus in tonight's episode of his Channel 4 series Heston's Fantastical Food.

The world famous chef, who is known for putting an unusual twist on popular foods, is attempting to revive food experiences which are going out of fashion.

During the visit to Drake Circus, which was filmed in July, he focuses on traditional sweet shops and confectionary.

Hundreds of shoppers were invited to taste his eclectic range of sweets.

Rachel Stephens, marketing manager at Drake Circus, said: "It was exciting to have Heston visit us, and his sweets went down a storm with the crowds. We are looking forward to seeing the final result aired.

The English chef is the owner of The Fat Duck, in Bray, Berkshire which has been awarded three Michelin stars.

It has been voted best restaurant in the UK.

The programme will be broadcast tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
