Three Westcountry community projects which help people live longer, healthier lives have been awarded a total of nearly £30,000 raised through the Health Lottery.
The three charities have been able to use the funding to extend their services to promote active and healthy lifestyles, increasing physical and mental wellbeing.
The money was awarded through the Healthy Communities Small Grants Programme.
The Many Directions Theatre Company received £8,200, which will allow it to run a 12-month programme of weekly dance and movement workshops designed for people with learning disabilities living in North Devon.
A further £10,000 is going to organicARTS for a project which will support 48 volunteers from Exeter, who are socially isolated. They will help maintain and develop a community garden, which is based on an organic farm in Ide.
And nearly £10,000 will go to Home Start Torbay for The Turnaround Project, which will provide specially trained volunteers who can respond at short notice to families in urgent need of short term support. This new source of funding was open to small charities or groups working in local communities to take action to help people live longer healthier lives.
