Residents are being given their first ever opportunity to participate in a famous tar barrels pull through ten rural communities.
For the first time in its 110-year history, locals will be allowed to drag the Hatherleigh tar barrels on a 'Ten Pub Pull' through towns and villages in West Devon tomorrow.
The traditional challenge involves ten people covering 45 miles by trailer and bus between villages and pulling for around a mile before stopping in each location.
"It's the first time in the 110-year history of Hatherleigh Carnival that outsiders will have had this opportunity," said organiser Eddie Edwards. "This time we want to give as many people as possible the chance to see, touch and find out more about the tar barrels, so we've widened our range."
The Ten Pub Pull starts in the morning at Hatherleigh before visiting Iddesleigh, Winkleigh, North Tawton, Exbourne, Northlew, Bratton Clovelly, Halwill Junction, Black Torrington and High-ampton before returning to Hatherleigh in the evening.
