Gig not for charity

A collection is to be held at a community festival today raise funds which may help save HMS Plymouth.

Members of the UK Independence Party, in Plymouth, will be collecting on behalf of the HMS Plymouth Trust, at the Plymstock Community Festival being held at Down Horn Park.

The HMS Plymouth Trust is trying to raise £400,000 which is needed to buy the anti-submarine ship from Peel Ports, her owners, and save her from being sold to a Turkish ship breaker.

The Plymstock Community Festival, taking place today, runs from 11am - 4pm.
