A horse trapped in a stream was rescued by Devon firefighters on Friday evening.
A fire crew from Newton Abbot, along with a special rescue team from Bridgwater, were sent to Trusham, near Newton Abbot, after the owner reported the horse had fallen in a stream and was unable to get up.
Crews waited for a vet to arrive to sedate the 13-year-old horse, which was said to be in poor condition, before attempting a rescue.
The owner kept the horse’s head above the water until the medication took effect. Firefighters used animal harnesses and lines to rescue the horse. It was then left in the care of the owner and the vet.
The alarm was raised just before 8pm on Good Friday.
