A young woman has been cut free from a car crash in North Devon.

Police were called to the scene at West Down outside the Fox Hunter's Inn on the A361 at Ilfracombe at 4.05pm today.

A member of the public heard a loud bang and called police.

A Toyota Rav 4 registered to Braunton was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

The fire service and paramedics arrived on the scene and closed the road.

Firefighters then removed the trapped woman from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment.

The female driver, aged 21, was left with a cut arm and was complaining of neck injuries, say police.

The road is still closed and police are directing traffic.
