Weather forecasts could be disrupted by plans for a large Devon housing estate, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has warned.

Forecasters fear crucial temperature, humidity and wind speed data, could be blocked by proposals to surround the Exeter-based Met Office with on three sides with 750 homes.

The Met Office has warned that the data was “fundamental” to its ability to accurately predict weather patterns.

A spokesman said the proximity to receivers was a “concern” and threatens “operational forecasting capabilities”.

MoD officials, who represent the Met Office on planning issues, have demanded specific conditions be imposed on residents ahead of a meeting at Exeter City Council on Monday.

How can anyone be that ridiculously stupid? Whoever made that decision should consider a career change, because that's certainly not the right location to build a few hundred houses. Anyone with a single brain cell would realise that.
