REVEREND Nick McKinnel will become the eighth bishop of Crediton tomorrow as he is consecrated in Southwark Cathedral.

He will be the last bishop to be consecrated by the outgoing Archbishop, the Most Revd Rowan Williams.

Bishop Nick will take over from Bishop Bob Evens, who retired in October. Nick was previously Rector of the Minister Church of St Andrews in Plymouth.

He will look after clergy and congregations in east and south east Devon, including Exeter and Crediton, and north and some of mid Devon.

The Bishop of Exeter, Rt Revd Michael Langrish, said: "It is going to be wonderful to work with Nick. He is a person of great warmth and will enjoy coming alongside the parishes and people he will look after. We ask for prayer for the service tomorrow, which will mark a very special moment in his life."

The deputy mayor of Crediton, Joyce Harris, said: "The town council and the people of Crediton would also like to extend a warm welcome to their new Bishop."
