Dumper truck tips over in Newton Abbot leaving man trapped

A man has been airlifted to hospital after becoming trapped under a dumper truck in South Devon.

The Devon Air Ambulance was called to a works site near Newton Abbot at around midday after a man became trapped underneath a truck which had rolled over.

Emergency crews arrived at the site at Heathfield, and paramedics asked the fire service to attend.

Two fire appliances from Newton Abbot, along with the heavy rescue tender and a support appliance from Middlemoor in Exeter, attended.

Crews assisted ambulance in releasing the man, who was then handed over to paramedics to be checked over.

Air ambulance and the ambulance incident response team were also at the scene.

It is understood the man suffered no serious injuries.
