Driver injured in power pole collision

A car was left on its roof after crashing into an electricity pole in Devon.

The accident happened on Totnes Road, Paignton, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found a man trapped in the car.

He was cut free using hydraulic cutting equipment and taken to hospital.

Western Power was also called to the site to deal with damage to the electricity pole.

The man, who is understood to be from Ivybridge, was not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The road was reopened around 6am on Saturday.
