Driver charged after KFC near-miss in Exeter

A 34-year-old man has been charged with drink driving after his van careered off the road and almost collided with a fast food drive-through in Exeter.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the KFC restaurant at Middlemoor at 12.15am yesterday following reports that a vehicle had crashed through a wooden fence and almost collided with the building.

The driver provided a positive breath test to Devon and Cornwall police officers at the scene and was later charged.

He has been bailed to appear before North and East Devon Magistrates on November 13.
